WalkRide Romiley

Want to make Romiley's streets safer and nicer for walking and cycling?

Picture
  • WalkRide Romiley is a group of local people who want to make walking & cycling the natural choices for local journeys, particularly for children going to school. £160 million is available in Greater Manchester to improve walking & cycling, via the Bee Network initiative. We want to ensure Romiley gets its fair share.

How?

  • We support the Walk Ride GM campaign group and represent the Romiley chapter. We aim to work with people living and working in our community, with elected officials, schools, local businesses, and anyone else who supports our vision and/or has an interest in WalkRide's main goals and campaigns.

Why?

Congestion costs businesses in Greater Manchester £1.3 billion annually. 30% of all GM journeys of less than 1km are currently made by car. Every day 3 people in Greater Manchester die early from air pollution. We want to support the vision for a sustainable and joined-up city transport system that prioritises walking and cycling for all of Greater Manchester.
